Maurice Bukelembe Misiko
Maurice is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Commerce in Insurance. Additionally, he holds an Associate Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London since 1990 and an Associate Diploma in Insurance (AIIK) from the Insurance Institute of Kenya since 1995. He is a seasoned Insurance Planner and Business Strategist with extensive work experience of over three and a half decades working with leading Insurance Companies and Insurance Brokers based in Kenya and Tanzania. The diverse roles he has served have enriched his experience in the areas of operational efficiency, underwriting and claims management, business growth and development, and corporate leadership. He started off his career at Insurance Company of East Africa (ICEA Ltd) where he served as the Claims Supervisor, a Senior Claims Manager at Jubilee Insurance Company Ltd, a Claims Manager at Gateway Insurance Company Ltd, an Assistant General Manager at Kenbright Insurance Brokers Ltd and then rejoined ICEA Ltd, Mombasa in 2004 as the Coast Regional Manager. Thereafter, he was seconded to ICEALION Insurance Company Ltd, Tanzania as a General Manager, Business Development. He returned to ICEALION General Insurance Company Limited, Nairobi, in the same position he served until he retired in the Year 2020.
Maurice has actively contributed to the growth of the combined Kenyan and Tanzanian Insurance Industry not only by working for established companies, but also with business start-ups. He is the founding Director of the forerunner of Waumini Insurance Brokers Ltd, a catholic church project, where he served as the Insurance Service Director. Additionally, after his retirement, Maurice joined Nile Capital Insurance Brokers(E.A) Limited (NCIB) Board in July 2020, as a Partner and Director where he oversees business growth strategies and initiatives in the Business Development function. Furthermore, he also serves as the Principal Officer, a role in which he ensures operational efficiency and industry regulatory compliance for not only the direct broking NCIB, but also the newly established reinsurance broking entity, the Nile Capital Reinsurance Brokers Kenya Ltd ( the Nile Cap Re).
Being a Mentor, a Writer, a Bee Farmer, and a Member of Kitale Club, he also sits on the Boards of St. John’s Hospital and St. John’s Girls High School both in Kitale and Kenserve Online Services Ltd, an upcoming Building and Construction Company
based in Nairobi.
